Chris de Burgh Fan Tribute CD 2003
From the Officail Website"Chris de Burgh Fan Tribute CD 2003"
-
After the success of the first three CD projects "To The Other Side", "All For One" and "A Way Across The Universe" we are now in the process of preparing this years edition of the "Chris de Burgh Fan Tribute CD 2003".
What is this project all about?
The CD is an online project that allows singers and musicians worldwide to share their common love for one of the world's most extraordinary songwriters, Chris de Burgh.
Who can participate in the project?
The project is designed for all Chris de Burgh fans, who love to sing and play the songs of their favourite artist. It is a non-profit project, by Chris de Burgh fans for Chris de Burgh fans. Everyone can contribute a song, no matter whether they are professional musicians or non-professional hobby musicians.
How much will the final CD cost?
No money of any kind will be charged for the final CD, other than costs of mailing and materials.
What can you find on the website "Chris de Burgh Fan Tribute CD 2003"?
On this website you will find all the information about this project and how you can participate in it yourself!
Musicians and singers - learn how to register and submit a track and subscribe to our mailing list.
Graphic artists - participate in the cover graphics contest!
Can't sing, play music or paint? But you own a CD writer? Here's the info on how you can help with the distribution of the CD!
We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Singers/Musicians:
Registering.
All tracks must be registered by August 15, 2003, using the registration form on this website. You may register up to three songs, but please understand that we cannot put more than one track per contributor on the final CD.
Duplication of songs.
If we receive duplicate versions of the same song by different contributors, and the tracks are ultimately different (i.e. an acoustic version of Lady In Red, and a "heavy metal" version....), chances are that both tracks will appear on the CD. So don't worry about registering a song that somebody else already registered.
Mechanical rights licensing.
We're still in the process of figuring out whether it is necessary to license the mechanical rights of the individual recordings. It's something we didn't do with volume 1 to 3, and we are lucky that Chris didn't seem to mind. This time we have to be morecareful however. If we find it necessary to license the recordings, we might have to ask you to donate a small amount of money for this purpose. We will inform you about this during the process of the project.
No use of original Chris de Burgh work.
Due to legal reasons this time we cannot accept tracks that use Chris de Burgh's original recorded work (i.e.his music with merely new vocals over it). So, if you want to submit a track, you must record both voice and music. If you can't record your own music, please contact Brian and Cesar via the mailing list, as they might be able to provide a simple "karaoke" version of the song you would like to sing, so you merely need to record your own voice over it. We might eventually be able to provide "karaoke" versions of popular songs on this website soon, to have an extra contest as in who does the best version of them.
No submission to multiple projects.
There might be several "CD projects" around. Once we have submitted your track and we have accepted to put it on the CD of this project, you may not submit them to any of the other projects.
Biography.
For the creation of the booklet and the website of the tribute CD we kindly ask you to also submit a little "bio" (who are you, where do you live, why did you chose your song, ...) and a picture along with your submission.
Submission.
Final deadline for submitting your registered song is October 15, 2003.
Agreement on use of tracks.
Once you have submitted your track to the project, you give us irrevocable permission to publish it on the tribute CD without remuneration. We assure you that we will not alter your track unless it is necessary for technical reasons. In this case we would integrate you into the process.
Decision about song selection.
Only 74 minutes (approximately 20 tracks) will fit on the CD. In case we receive too many tracks, we have built a sub-committee for a listening jury. Brian, Cesar, Diana, Axel and Patrick will listen to every track and judge them according to performance, originality, quality, duplication of song choice and special considerations. The final decision as to which songs appear on the CD and in what running order is up to them. However, we assure you to keep you up to date about the decision process, if you subscribe to our contributor mailing list. In case, your song will not be selected for the final CD, it will automatically be registered for next year's project.

Mark the button "guidelines accepted".
If you have any comments, feel free to add them.
Click on submit.
Subscribe to our mailing list for advice on recording and for an update about the voting process of the listening jury members.
Final date for registering a song is August 15, 2003.
Good luck!!!
- How to submit your track.
We kindly ask you to submit your recording in high quality MP3-format.
Please send it by e-mail to Cesar Quintero.
If you can't get your file converted, or if you prefer to send in a different format, please contact Cesar also.
Along with the submission of your track, we would like to ask you to submit a "bio" by e-mail to Astrid Nolde-Gallasch. The bio should contain a picture (jpg), and info about who you are, where you are from, your e-mail address, and why you chose to record this particular song. We will use this bio for the CD booklet and website.
Your recordings will be put on a website, where at first they will only be available to the listening jury (Brian, Cesar, Diana, Axel and Patrick). After they decide which songs to put on the CD, the final recordings will be mastered for the CD.
If you need technical advice on how to record your song, we highly recommend that you subscribe to our mailing list and ask Brian, Cesar or Patrick about it, as they are the specialists in this field.
Home recordings are equally welcome as studio recordings, so please don't be afraid to submit a song. Chris de Burgh told us himself that he was very impressed by the love and effort that went into every single recording of volume 1, 2 and 3, no matter how professional or non-professional the recording was!
Good luck with your recordings!
- Mailing List.
We have set up a special mailing list for all contributors and we highly recommend that you subscribe to it.
Get advice on how to record your song.
Find out who submits which track.
Learn about current details of the project.
Be updated about the number of tracks received.
Be first to know whether your track was selected.
- Cover graphics and title contest.
Can't sing or play music? But you are an artist when it comes to graphics? Then this is your way to participate in the project! We are searching for a title and a pretty design for the cover graphic of the CD.
Requirements:
size of the graphic: around 10x10cm / 4x4inch.
don't use a photograph of Chris de Burgh, unless you have taken that picture yourself (and can prove it!).
high resolution quality jpg-format.
along with your cover design we ask you to chose a cool title for the CD.
the title should match both the idea of the project and your design.
the title should contain the words "Chris de Burgh fan tribute" or something similar.
all designs must be submitted until August 30.
after August 30 the graphic jury members (Lids, Diana, Chris, Muhammad, Morten) will look at all the designs and decide which graphic wins the contest.
the winning design will be published on this website on September 15.
Submit your design along with your name and e-mail address to: Patrick Maher.
